Bali has thousands wood carver. Art in their blood naturally coming from their parents. They enjoy work since they were child until they understand that what they had done very useful for their life as a main business or a side business as a Balinese wood carver.

To find a good quality wood animal carving in bali it isn't difficult because the did it from years ago. It has proven so many businessman from all abroad import these line market from Bali. Production time is a point usually forgotten by buyer. Why..............
All buyer place an order with in maximum 3 months production time. And Wood carver spend about 1 month just to make the wood dry. And it still depend on season rainy season needs more longer time than hat season. To have dry wood can't be forced by put into kiln room, it makes the wood crack. It is no really matter if you want to have it in color finishing, fill crack with wood filler and no more problem. But If you need natural finishing "cracking " is a big problem.
So what we must to do then ???

As a buyer you must understand that:
1. Wood must be dried, and it needs time.
2. Feel the wood, i mean dried wood lighter than wet wood
3. Prefer buy of stock because i has been dried for months ago. Otherwise
place an order with enough time for production and wood drying process.
4. Find them in Sukawati, Mas, Tebongkang, and Ubud Village in Gianyar regency of Bali

Balinese Wooden Abstract Statue

Abstract statue is expression of life.All human activities can be describe or carved on the piece of timber.It is not to difficult for Balinese artist carver, what they need just thinking a while find an idea to create something in their mind. And start to get a timber and couple tools, few hour later they will make you surprise on how the art of wood carving especially Abstract statue trully symbol of life. A symbol mother love to her baby, love a couple,eroticism, passion, energy, pressure, emotion etc.

It is not far too different with wooden Buddha statue, an abstract statue made of same wood " Suar Wood or Samanea Saman ". But remember there are two kind finishing Natural and colored. Natural finishing shows their wood lines clearly and it will tell you that it made of good quality wood (Suar Wood). Abstract statue colored finishing usually made of lighter wood than Suar wood Just like " Albesia" the most popular wood in Bali or "Albizzia Falcatta" under schientific name.

Wood carver would prefer to put color finishing like brown or antique on their carving if it is made of Albesia wood. Why..................The reason is Albesia wood doesn't have wood line texture like Suar wood.It doesn't really matter you like natural or color one.The most important i think is :You found that you are looking for.
